Lemuel's
1898 Santa Rosa County, Fla., marriage license spells
his name as Parmley. He signed his World War I draft
registration Parmely in 1918. A year later, he
applied for a passport with this photo -- and filed
as Parmeley -- at the U.S. consulate in Tampico,
Mexico, where he was working as a carpenter for The
Texas Co.
