    corporal, Army; of Frisco, Colo.
    Enlisted in 2006 and received training at Fts. Sam Houston in Texas and Stewart near Savannah, Ga. A combat medic with the 3rd Infantry Division, he was wounded by insurgent gunfire while on a mission southwest of Baghdad on Dec. 29, 2007. He was awarded the Purple Heart. Feature story.
  • Michael
    paratrooper, Army; of Hillsboro, Ore.
    He was a gunner in 2009 with the 1st Battalion, 325th Infantry Regiment, and later was stationed at Ft. Bragg, Calif.
  • Ryan T.
    sergeant, Army; of Durham and Middletown, Conn.
    [10-01154] Terry, John Osborn, Willis Isaac, Frederick M., Horace, Joel, Joel. Joel, John, John
    Served in 2003, arriving just two weeks after the initial invasion, followed by stints in South Korea and Kuwait. Assigned to the 3rd Medical Command out of Ft. Gillem, Ga.
