The berg of Parmleysville had been called Horse Hollow because so many horse thieves hid their animals there. Many of the Parmleys who live in this area today can trace their roots back to Giles [1731-1803; Hiel, Nathaniel, Nathaniel, John, John] of Killingworth, who moved to Westfield, N.J., just before the Revolutionary War and then into the frontier of Kentucky and Tennessee. |
