Harriet, of Twinsburg, Ohio, was a missionary in Kyoto, Japan, in 1877. The tiny photo is from a Japanese Website. The larger one, taken while she lived in Oberlin, Ohio, is from her 1924 U.S. passport. Her application reveals that she was 5-foot-8 and had gray hair.

Her neice, Emma Faith Parmelee, a secretary for the Young Women's Christian Association, came to visit her in Japan in 1917.
